What We’re Learning-August 23-27 Reading- We are learning to determine the main idea of an informational text. We are using text features to help predetermine the main idea prior to reading. We are learning to compare and contrast within a text and between two texts on the same topic. We are learning to decode multi-syllable words within the text. Spelling- See spelling list below. The test will be on Friday, but will be only counted as a daily grade. Language- We are learning to form regular plural nouns. Writing-The students will learn how to write an informative piece, revise, and publish it. Social Studies-This week we’re continuing to learn how to read a map. We will learn how to locate places on a map using lines of latitude and longitude. Math: This week we will be learning about addition and subtraction with regrouping, solving word problems, and rounding to tens and hundreds place. Science: We are still learning about the water cycle, weather, and climate.
THERE WILL BE AN EXTRA READING INTERVENTION OCCURING FROM 3:00-3:20 DAILY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THIS WILL BE A VERY IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL PRACTICE TIME FOR STUDENTS IN READING. PLEASE KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN MAKING A DECISION TO SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS OR PICK UP YOUR CHILD EARLY. THANK YOU! |

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS Homework will always be given Monday through Thursday throughout the year. Homework will begin on August 16th .
Monday-Read the story and answer the questions in your folder. Work on the spelling page. Tuesday- Reread the story and answer the questions in your folder. Wednesday- Reread the story and complete any remaining questions. Thursday-Math: Work on the math page. Practice your spelling words.
